IDLE CLACKER
EVERY KEYSTROKE COUNTS
Learning to touch type takes thousands of repetitions. This one scores every single one. Master a key and it counts for more forever, spend the points on upgrades that raise it further, and let Otto, a robot who runs only on the battery your typing charged, keep scoring while you rest.
Every key you master permanently raises what the next keystroke is worth. Points buy upgrades that raise it further, so the grind that actually builds muscle memory comes with a number going up.
Otto, the points banked while you were away, and every upgrade in the shop accelerate that number. None of them touch the curriculum. Moving past a lesson always means typing its keys correctly, at 92% accuracy or better, until its repetition target is met.
Upgrades make the number climb faster. Only practice makes you faster.
Keys arrive as finger pairs: f and j, then d and k. Each new pair gets whole lines to itself instead of being sprinkled among keys you already know. A rendered keyboard shows the next key, and a pair of hands lights the finger that should press it.
Once the home row is spelled into real words, every lesson after it is word-based, drawn from words you can already spell.
Otto types alongside you, but only while his battery holds out, and only your keystrokes charge it. Ten minutes of typing banks him about 52 minutes of work. He spends it second for second, awake or not, and stops dead at zero.
So leaving the game running overnight is worth exactly nothing. To score more, come back and type.
Once every key is unlocked, the drill switches to real sentences, WPM starts counting, and speed finally becomes a multiplier with its own tier unlocks. Prestige trades a finished run for Muscle Tokens, each a permanent +20%.
Prestige resets your points and upgrades. It never resets your unlocked keys, your per-key stats, your achievements or your WPM records. You never relearn anything.
Mistyping does not advance the cursor. It costs your combo, which is the multiplier you actually care about.
Everything below is how the game actually works, not advice.
| Multiplier | WPM | Accuracy | Rung |
|---|---|---|---|
| ×1.50 | 10 | 90% | Warm |

92% to advance, and the ladder only ever shortens the drill. At ×2.50 a 300 repetition lesson costs 120 keystrokes instead of 300. The floor and the repetition target still stand.
A mistyped key does not advance the cursor, it breaks your combo. Two careful keystrokes are worth more than five rushed ones.
Otto banks 1.5 seconds of runtime per correct keystroke and spends it whether you are there or not. Leaving the game open adds nothing on its own.
A snack multiplies everything for a few seconds, and the hotkey works without leaving the drill. The key is swallowed rather than counted, so it can never mark an error or cost your combo.
Double points, and it keeps the shape of the stage it interrupts. Pair lessons review as pairs, word lessons with the full vocabulary you can spell.
Muscle Tokens are permanent, at +20% each. Your unlocked keys, per-key statistics, achievements and WPM records all survive it.
From your very first character to a thousand-key combo.

It helps to include your operating system and version, how you installed the game, what you did, and what happened instead. If it is about lost progress, attach your save file. Where to find it is below.
~/Library/Application Support/Idle Clacker/save.json%APPDATA%\Idle Clacker\save.json~/.config/Idle Clacker/save.jsonCopy that one file. It holds everything: unlocked keys, per-key statistics, upgrades, achievements and records.
Delete the save file. The game creates a fresh one on the next launch. If Steam Cloud is on, turn it off for the game first, or the old save syncs back down.
Yes. Your save syncs through Steam Cloud when it is enabled for both your account and the game, and a local copy is kept either way.
Steam has to be running and the game launched through it. Achievements also fire once each, so one already recorded in your save will not fire again.
The on-screen keyboard and the finger guide are drawn for US QWERTY. Other layouts are not currently shown.
Not on its own. The whole game is typing, so it needs a physical keyboard attached.
Refunds are handled by Steam, under their standard policy. We would rather hear what went wrong, if you have a moment.
